American Bible University (ABU) is accredited by The Commission on Biblical Higher Education (CBHE) to award associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. CBHE is an evangelical, faith based, accrediting agency.

CBHE is a faith-based accrediting agency, not affiliated with any US Government, or US Department of Education accrediting agency.

American Bible University (ABU)  has elected not to seek national, regional or US Government accreditation at this time. This decision is based on our desire to make Biblical higher education accessible to all believers regardless of their financial needs, and our belief that the US Department of Education system often leads to higher tuition rates, which in turn forces students into students loan debt.

American Bible University (ABU) degrees are primarily for church ministry. Many attend to answer a call from God and prepare for ministry. Others come just to develop their own personal relationship with the Lord, and gain a deeper understanding of the Bible.

No one should be forced to go into debt in order to answer God’s call in their life.

Nevertheless, ABU is committed to maintaining high academic standards and providing students with a quality theological education on part with programs offered at the best of accredited theological institutions of higher education.

Accepting credits earned at another institution is the prerogative of the receiving institution. No college, school or accrediting agency can require another institution to accept academic credits earned somewhere else. Even when the sending institution is accredited by the same agency as the receiving school, there is no guarantee credits will transfer.

Students wishing to transfer credits to other schools are responsible for finding out about the acceptance of credits by the receiving institution.

ABU programs are designed to equip believers for effective Christian ministry.

The most important accreditation for any evangelical institution of Biblical higher education comes from its faithfulness to the Word of God and obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit. We are confident that your Spirit-anointed ministry is what will accredit our programs and open doors before you for a continually expanding ministry. “…Some people need to bring letters of accreditation with them or ask you to write letters of recommendation for them. But the only letter of accreditation we need is you yourselves! Your lives are a letter written in our hearts, and everyone can read it and recognize our good work among you. Clearly, you are a letter from Christ prepared by us. It is written not with pen and ink, but with the Spirit of the living God. It is carved not on stone, but on human hearts.” – 2 Corinthians 3:1-3
